David Wallace

Location

Columbus, OH, USA

Availability

Mostly on the weekends but I can make some other times work.

Type of Mentoring Provided

Many photographers love to make images but hate to process them…I find joy in both! They are different experiences, but both transport me to somewhere new and push my thinking and problem-solving. I love to talk about processing and some strategies to get the most out of an image. I’m available for discussion and reflection as well, we can look at some of your images together, and I can share some of my work (or work from some of your favorites). I’m also happy to help if you have questions about the site and how to get around.

Bio

I am a teacher at heart with over 15 years of education experience (not in the field of photography). I’ve been a middle school teacher and administrator for 15 years and love to see people learn and grow. I’ve been working at improving my photography over the last 3 years. I’ve spent countless hours studying and learning more about photography and I’m excited to share what I have to offer. I’ve been fortunate enough to take a few photography related trips and would love to share my experiences with you.

Specialties

Growing up and doing most of my photography in Ohio I’ve learned to focus on both the big vistas and the smaller scenes. I love finding the scene within the scene and feel that some of my best work is done when digging a little deeper.

Technical Expertise

I can help with processing questions in Lightroom and Photoshop. I utilize Luminosity Masks from time to time and would be happy to share what I know about them. I can also assist with understanding exposure and the effects of the exposure triangle. Finally, I’d be happy to help you better understand your camera system, although Sony is all I’ve ever used.
